Bobby Moore Academy

We celebrate the diversity of our community through our aspirational learning culture so that each individual can fulfil their potential.

Sport

Sport is an essential part of school life at BMA.

Physical Education and sport enable students to develop important skills such as team spirit, cooperation, dedication and also the importance of health and fitness in living a healthy lifestyle. We ensure that we provide an extensive and varied sports curriculum for all our students.

Our access to sports facilities are second to none and give students the opportunity to use state of the art equipment. Including:

  • Olympic athletics track and field with Olympic grade equipment
  • Sports Hall
  • Fitness gym
  • Dance studio
  • Football pitch
  • Astro-turf pitch
  • We are also privileged to have use of excellent local facilities including the Olympic village facilities.

Students are encouraged to take up various roles within sport as well as undertaking roles as coaches and officials. Students are given the opportunity to develop these skills in becoming a DRET Sports Leader which is new for 2024.   DRET Sports Leaders will ambassador sport at BMA and support in the running of events in house, this will further develop their individual skill sets in becoming future leaders in and outside of the Academy.

With our sponsor DRET come great opportunities for our students including but not limited to; opportunities to apply for bursaries, attend huge Trust wide events such as the DRET Summer (2022 winners), Spring and Winter Cups (2023 winners) and to participate in All Stars teams in Netball, Football, Rugby, Rowing and Running.

We run regular trips to high quality fixtures having previously been to watch MLB at the London stadium, England Hockey both men’s and women’s, The Billie Jean Cup tennis sessions at the Copper Box and to watch Princeton basketball team from New Jersey at the Copper Box Arena.

Our local partnerships provide fantastic opportunities for our students including Rowing on the Royal Docks with London Rowing Club, Talent ID by Team GB, track cycling and BMX practice at the VeloPark with British Cycling to name but a few!

At Bobby Moore Academy we want to expose our students to a variety of sports which led to being invited to an NFL development day at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where they were coached by elite NFL coaches.

The academy has a wide and extensive extra-curricular sporting programme with over 35 clubs being ran weekly.
