Sport

Sport is an integral part of school life at BMA.

At Bobby Moore Academy we pride ourself on our offer of sporting opportunities for all scholars ranging from participation to performance. All students at BMA are offered the chance to take part in regular physical activity whether it be through Physical Education, our extensive sports enrichment programme, taking part in annual house competitions or one of the 150+ fixtures we deliver each academic year.

Our sports programmes enables scholars to develop important skills such as resilience, dedication, team work and also helps them recognise the importance of health and fitness in living a healthy lifestyle.

Our access to sports facilities are second to none and give students the opportunity to use state of the art equipment. Including:

  • Olympic athletics track and field with Olympic grade equipment 
  • Sports Hall
  • Fitness gym
  • Dance studio
  • Football pitch
  • Astro-turf pitch
  • We are also privileged to have use of excellent local facilities including the Olympic village facilities.

As part of the David Ross Education Trust our students get access to a wide variety of elite opportunities. Our scholars have had the opportunity to be coached by Olympic, Commonwealth & Diamond League champions. On top of this we compete at huge Trust wide events including the annual Summer Cup (2022, 2024, 2025 champions) & the Winter Cup (2023, 2024 champions). Alongside all of this our scholars access many other opportunities such as development days, opportunity to trial for the DRET All star Netball & Rowing teams, attend the Trusts Sports tours including the Paris Football tour (2025) & the Barcelona Netball tour (2026).

Since our official opening in 2018 we have developed key local partnerships who provide fantastic opportunities for our students including Rowing on the Royal Docks with London Rowing Club, Talent ID by Team GB, track cycling and BMX practice at the Velo Park with British Cycling to name a few!

We also organise regular trips to major sporting events, having previously attended MLB games at the London Stadium, England Hockey fixtures for both the men’s and women’s teams, Billie Jean tennis sessions at the Copper Box, the Princeton University basketball team at the Copper Box Arena, Diamond League athletics, and selected West Ham United Premier League matches.

All this is part of life at Bobby Moore Academy where we look to provide your child with an exceptional sporting experience by empowering them to become the best version of themselves.

Bobby Moore Bears

 As of recent we branded our sports teams & department along with the other secondary academies within the Trust. Re branding as the Bobby Moore Bears has gives our students a logo to represent and feel proud of, as well as being able to compete under the name Bobby Moore who is an English sporting Icon.

The DRET Winter Cup 2025

The David Ross Education Trusts annual Winter cup is held at the University of Nottingham with over 1,200 students accessing their world class sports facilities for a truly Inspiring day in which year 7-13 students will compete in Football & Netball with the hope to be crowned Winter Cup Champions. 

 The DRET Summer Cup 2025

The David Ross Education Trusts annual Summer Cup is held at at Grantham meres leisure centre with over 1600 students in attendance across 36 Secondary & Primary academies. This event is the biggest we take part in and is truly the most inspiring day.
