Tuesday 13 June 2023 My Story: Maths, My Mission, My Mindset - Yr12 Bobby Seagull Visit On Thursday 25th May, Bobby Seagull visited Bobby Moore Academy to deliver an inspiring presentation on his life story ‘Maths, My Mission & Mindset’. Bobby Seagull is a teacher, writer and Cambridge University Doctorate student. He appeared on the television program University Challenge in 2017, and in 2018 on Monkman & Seagull’s Genius Guide to Britain. Before moving into education, he was an investment banking trader at Lehman Brothers & Nomura, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant from PwC. He is an ambassador for the charity National Numeracy, a presenter for an Open University course on personal finance for young adults, a regular contributor to Radio Four’s Puzzle For Today and a columnist for the Financial Times. Bobby is also author of ‘The Life-Changing Magic of Numbers’ and co-presenter of the podcast Maths Appeal. Tuesday 13 June 2023 Primary and Secondary students have a very special experience watching professional cricket On Friday 26th May, we took 45 students from Bobby Moore Primary and Secondary school (students from Yr 3 to Yr9) to watch the Essex vs Ireland Cricket Match at the CloudFM Essex County Cricket Ground. Not only did students get to watch and enjoy elite level cricket, they were given two very special opportunities on the day. Two secondary students rang the bell which signals the start of play just before the match and as the players entered the pitch, primary students formed the guard of honour, welcoming players onto the pitch – what a double honour! A huge thank you to Essex Cricket in the Community for facilitating these amazing opportunities for our students, they had an incredible day out.

Friday 26 May 2023 BMA students flying high at the Newham Schools Athletics Championships On Wednesday 10th May, BMA students from Yr7 - 10 took part in their first Athletics competition of the season at Mile End Athletics Track for the Newham School Athletics Championships. This was a very competitive event and all students demonstrated excellent performances in their respective track and field disciplines. Please see below the final results from the event:

Thursday 25 May 2023 Yr7-10 BMA students experience on-water rowing with London Youth Rowing On Monday 22nd May, we took 12 students to The London Regatta Centre. The students who attended had shown promising talent in our DRET and National Indoor Rowing events in the Spring Term and today was their first experience of ‘real’ on-water rowing in a fantastic session run by London Youth Rowing coaches.

Thursday 25 May 2023 Yr7-10 students attend Lendlease and LYR Life Skills Event On Wednesday 24th May, we took a group of 25 students who had shown excellent leadership in their PE lessons to a Life Skills event in the Olympic Park run by Lendlease and London Youth Rowing. The day started with students taking part in practical sessions on the water – they tried out rowing, dragon boating and paddleboarding and demonstrated some excellent skills in totally new activities led by expert rowing coaches.

Tuesday 25 April 2023 A note at the Gallery Musicians from BMA joined the Bath Festival Orchestra for an wonderful evening of music in the iconic National Gallery on the 25th April. Our students held the audience captive, with a wonderful selection of jazz and solo voice pieces against a backdrop of some of the most famous paintings from across the globe. We are so proud of the students professionalism and commitment to music and the arts. They are true ambassadors of our BMA community and the embodiment of what it is to be a model student at our academy.

Wednesday 1 February 2023 Bobby Moore Sixth Form proud to host David Barker Bobby Moore sixth form were very proud to host David Barker (from Speakers4Schools). He was one of the UK’s first Internet entrepreneur’s in the early 1990’s; he set up a digital marketing agency and spent the next ten years working with clients such as Intel, Microsoft and Cisco as well as charities including Amnesty International, Oxfam and World Wildlife Fund. His talk to the students encompassed the skills required to move from education to employment.
