Careers information for teachers
Bobby Moore Academy is committed to providing a high-quality Careers Programme, giving pupils access to a wide range of information, advice and guidance to help inspire students and to enable them to make informed decisions regarding their future career journey. Bobby Moore Academy aims to meet all eight benchmarks identified by the Gatsby Foundation.
Careers should not be the responsibility of the Careers Leader and a small number of teachers, but of all staff at Bobby Moore Academy.
At Bobby More Academy, all Heads of House offer the following careers provision:
- Organise one ‘Ask the Expert’ video promoting a specific career to pupils once per half term, and arrange for pupil questions for the expert to be shared and responded to
- Organise at least one careers opportunity (e.g. off-site trip or on-site talk/workshop) for pupils within their house each half term
At Bobby Moore Academy, we would like all subject areas to do the following:
- As a form tutor, staff should deliver weekly careers development sessions to students
- Keep accurate records via the unifrog platform of all careers opportunities delivered to students within the academy
- Have a prominent display that promotes a range of careers linked to their subject areas
- Maintain existing relationships with external partners e.g. UCL East and UAL to ensure continued high quality careers provision for our students
- Continue to develop new links with businesses and organisations to promote a wide range of careers
- To invite alumni and other external speakers to come into school to attend our yearly Careers Fair
- Where appropriate to organise external visits for students to experience local workplaces
- Link curriculum lessons to relevant careers within their subject across the academic year. All staff at Bobby More Academy have a unifrog login where they can access a wide range of careers resources which can support them in integrating high quality careers education within their subject lessons.
- Consider the needs and interests of all students and ensure that careers information shared challenges stereotyping including gender and disability
- Subject teachers will be supported to develop and integrate careers learning opportunities into their schemes of learning through INSET sessions and faculty meetings
