Bobby Moore Academy

We celebrate the diversity of our community through our aspirational learning culture so that each individual can fulfil their potential.

Governance and Scheme of Delegation

Bobby Moore Academy is governed by an Academy Scrutiny Committee.

In England there are over 300,000 school/academy governors, who form the largest volunteer force in the country. Members of academy governing bodies work collectively to perform a strategic role and carry out various key functions, including:

  • Discussing and setting the aims and objectives for the academy
  • Ratifying the required policies for achieving those aims and objectives
  • Approving/agreeing the required targets for achieving those aims and objectives
  • Monitoring and evaluating the progress that the academy is making towards its set aims and objectives.

The role of the academy governor is to provide challenge and support to the Principal, i.e. be a 'critical friend.'

Bobby Moore Academy is part of the David Ross Education Trust (DRET) - a national network of 34 schools. DRET is non-denominational and does not make any profit from running its schools.

The David Ross Education Trust's Articles of Association, Master Funding Agreement and Accountabilities Framework can be found on the DRET website.  There are also supplemental funding agreements for each individual school in the network, including Bobby Moore Academy.

Like every school in the Trust, Bobby Moore Academy is the legal responsibility of the Trust Board and CEO. This board focuses on financial and strategic operations and delegates responsibilities for support and challenge from each school’s local Academy Scrutiny Committee.
